Are You Keeping Abreast of All Employment Laws?

With today's perceived "sue happy" culture, not being aware of changes in employment law can get you in hot water with a disgruntled employee. Employee legislation changes often, and keeping up-to-date helps protect you from large fines if you are found in breach of the law. Regular updates are posted on these sites:

• US Department of Labor - this site has almost all the information you will need
  • Information for small businesses
• Bureau of Labor Statistics - this contains all the information about consumer & inflation, wages, safety and health, etc.
• Disability Information - is the one-stop site for people with disabilities, employers, and families & Americans with Disabilities Act
• U.S. Equal Employment Opportunities Commission contains information for small businesses
• Occupational Safety and Health Administration
• State Labor Offices
• Bureau of International Labor Affairs
• U.S. National Labor Relations - this is for unions and employers in the private sector
• Veterans' Employment and Training Service

Be sure to check with a good lawyer if you have any major questions, but these web sites should help you clarify and keep abreast of current news and laws.
