Cyber Monday Sales Broke Records
December 4, 2007

Cyber Monday's shopping totals increased 20% over last year.  According to Bloomberg via a video on ClipSyndicate, Cyber Monday shoppers spent $733 million this year as the number of people hunting for deals after Thanksgiving.  High gas prices and the worst housing slump in decades kept people home and out of brick-and-morter stores, instead searching for products online.  In response, some retailers slashed prices up to 60% to entice and lure customers to their sites.  The majority of traffic was found on Target, Wal-mart and Amazon, which is typical, but my small business' contacts reported that they too faired OK.

According to an article on eMarketer.com, data company comScore's chairman Gian Fulgoni, said, "While that makes it the heaviest online shopping day on record, we expect that a number of individual shopping days during the coming weeks will surpass the Cyber Monday total, with some days potentially surpassing $800 million."

All of this could be good news for you, as a small business owner, if your site is shopper-friendly.   Can your customers find you?  Are you inviting them to shop with you?
