25 MORE Great Ways To Advertise If You're A Retailer

September 27, 2007 Subscribe to Retail Online

On Tuesday, I wrote about a list of possible advertising placements for retailers.  I found the worksheet recently and I reread it, and I think it's still relevant for today's marketplace.  Although there is no source to extend credit to, I believe it came from a small business guide by James Stephenson.  Here they are 25 MORE advertising opportunities for retailers to consider:
  1. Trade publications and journals
  2. Newsletters that you create
  3. Corporate, education, non-profit and community newsletters
  4. Advertise on web sites with reciprocal links
  5. Banner advertisements
  6. e-zine publications (to give you an idea of options)
  7. Search engine marketing
  8. Internet directories
  9. Direct mail promotions / catalogs
  10. Christmas cards and calendars
  11. email opt-out/in blasts
  12. Telemarketing
  13. Sidewalk signs
  14. Human billboards
  15. Inserts in outgoing mail
  16. Take-one brochure boxes
  17. Seminar and public speaking engagements
  18. Shopping bags and boxes
  19. Magnetic vehicle signs
  20. Theatre and event programs
  21. Newcomer programs - find the service in your area and provide coupons or samples for people moving into your town
  22. Trade shows
  23. Bumper stickers
  24. Press releases
  25. Community business maps

We see that people have finally responded to your old article about ollies. You must certainly have had alot of time on your hands to have written such a personally biased article. as a business person? you might have given that new owner some slack to get started . I m glad that people have finally responded to your vindictiveness.I personally wouldn t have anything to do with your business as you are too quick to jump.Change, Ms bragg is a hard thing. Grow up.

Dear Ollies Supporter:
I'm very glad that I sparked discussion and controversy from a two and a half year old blog. This very thing - looked at from a test perspective - gives me the data I need to prove how powerful a blog (both positive and negative) can be for a business. Print comes and goes, but online, especially an article/blog that is optimized, lingers. As you will note, I commented again on that blog a year ago. I also don't live in Winston Salem anymore, and I personally didn't open a bakery there, but my neighbor did. She's killing the market and growing her business by leaps and bounds. I'm not too quick to jump, but I do appreciate the feedback.
