25 Great Ways To Advertise If You're A Retailer
September 25, 2007
A couple of years ago, a co-worker handed me a sheet of paper listing possible placements for retailers to advertise. I found this worksheet recently and I reread it, and I think it's still relevant for today's marketplace. Although there is no source to extend credit to, I believe it came from a small business guide by James Stephenson. Here they are 25 advertising opportunities for retailers to consider:
- newspaper display ads
- school newspapers and yearbooks
- magazines
- consumer directories
- telephone yellow and white pages
- radio spot advertising
- radio program sponsorship - "this program is brought to you by XYZ"
- television commercial advertising
- television program sponsorship (see above for radio)
- talking signs
- supplier cooperative advertising programs
- interior/exterior billboards & transit billboards
- flier distribution and handouts
- restaurants placemats
- packaging insertion programs
- coupon books and coupon distribution programs
- team and event sponsorships
- window displays
- point-of-purchase displays
- counter displays
- interior/exterior bench advertising
- exterior bicycle lock-up racks
- cross-promotion inserts and handouts
- postcards
- newspaper classified ads
