25 Great Ways To Advertise If You're A Retailer
September 25, 2007

A couple of years ago, a co-worker handed me a sheet of paper listing possible placements for retailers to advertise.  I found this worksheet recently and I reread it, and I think it's still relevant for today's marketplace.  Although there is no source to extend credit to, I believe it came from a small business guide by James Stephenson.  Here they are 25 advertising opportunities for retailers to consider:

  1. newspaper display ads
  2. school newspapers and yearbooks
  3. magazines
  4. consumer directories
  5. telephone yellow and white pages
  6. radio spot advertising
  7. radio program sponsorship - "this program is brought to you by XYZ"
  8. television commercial advertising
  9. television program sponsorship (see above for radio)
  10. talking signs
  11. supplier cooperative advertising programs
  12. interior/exterior billboards & transit billboards
  13. flier distribution and handouts
  14. restaurants placemats
  15. packaging insertion programs
  16. coupon books and coupon distribution programs
  17. team and event sponsorships
  18. window displays
  19. point-of-purchase displays
  20. counter displays
  21. interior/exterior bench advertising
  22. exterior bicycle lock-up racks
  23. cross-promotion inserts and handouts
  24. postcards
  25. newspaper classified ads
