Quick Tip of the Week: Social Networking And Your Custom URL

If you're tinkering with social media to develop your brand and grow your business, let me first say Hooray! While the jury on the true ROI of social media is still out, it is arguably a low-cost tool in your marketing arsenal that has proven effective for many brands.

If you follow my blog or tweets, you know that I consider LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter to be the holy triumvirate of social media for business. There are many more social networks but these three rank high for ease of use and interaction.

Here's a Quick Tip that you can use with all three of these sites plus many others: Create your custom URL. Let me explain by way of demonstration. If you're looking for me online, you can find me on:

Get the picture? Whenever possible, I create a custom URL that ends in SimaSays.

Business or Personal
When I chose the SimaSays "handle," I hadn't yet decided upon a name for my business and I wanted to have fun with the uniqueness of my first name. But you can easily use the name of your business instead. Before you decide, take a look at how your network knows you best. Are you the cookie lady with the bake shop? Then you might want to grab the handle /cookielady. But if you're known by name, make sure you grab yours before someone else does!
