Your company's rating on Local.com
June 20, 2008

The search engine Local.com announced they're now offering testimonials and ratings as a part of their functionality.  This is part of the movement in the search engine world for a more comprehensive search experience:  providing as much information as possible to make the experience informative and robust.  Why do I love this feature?  It's interesting reading the reviews on restaurants and businesses and it's endless fascinating to read what other people think.

Per Local.com's press release“According to Jupiter Research, 77 percent of online shoppers use ratings and reviews when making a purchase,” said Kim LaFleur, Local.com vice president, product management. “We are pleased to launch our own ratings and reviews engine to allow consumers visiting Local.com to both add and access important information on local businesses throughout the U.S., enabling them to make more informed purchasing decisions. In addition, this allows our business customers to more proactively manage their own reputations and understand their customers’ opinions (both good and bad) of their own products and services.”

So, how does this affect you?  For one, it's another means for people to write about you and pass it along to their friends. For you, it's a good way to get your trusted customers to write reviews and post them to this site.  And it's a (trusted) form of free advertising for you.  I recommend logging on to Local.com, searching for yourself and start managing your profile today.
