Article Marketing - Spreading The Word

We've been talking about the power of article marketing to promote your brand and how to pick the best media outlets for your submission. Now let's take a look at some alternate distribution methods to get your article noticed.

Why Bother

Submitting your article to a distribution service has tremendous SEO value and can results in more traffic to your website. Just be sure to include your URL in your article - either in your signature block or in the resource box provided - and when your article is distributed to 100s of media outlets, so is your website address.

Article Directories
There are numerous online article directories that will host and/or publish your article in targeted websites, blogs, ezines or even by RSS syndication. Most take just a few minutes to set up an account and get started. Some offer their service for free and others charge a modest service fee; beware of any website with exorbitant fees! Here are a few of the top services:

Social Media
You can also use popular social media sites to promote your article or blog and drive traffic back to your site. For example, every time I post a new article here, I update my Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn status to let people know.  Here's an example Tweet from the weekend:



By tweeting, I make my article visitble to the more than 1,000 Twitter followers I have. But that's not the end of it. Within minutes of tweeting, my Twitter friend @martinwaxman retweeted me, effectively promoting my article to the 1,000+ people following him.



The next day, another follower retweeted me and the process repeated itself.

Thanks Sima. I think this is a great subject to discuss. In a world where 'content' is king (or queen), writing your organization's story is an effective way to reach its target audience.

And while conventional media placements are still important (I'm in PR so I hope so), we also need to think about ways to reach all those relevant influencers outside the MSM box.

One caveat - you need to know how to write well, with clarity, ideas and style.
