Recognizing Employees
June 10, 2008

Every employee wants to be recognized by their employer for their contributions. A simple, “nice job” or “way to go” is an effective way of communicating appreciation for the efforts and successes of others. Here are four simple tips to acknowledge, support, and promote others to perform their best:

  1. Energize your employees. Keep morale high with a simple “way to go” or “nice job” after a tough week.
  2. Employee of the month. Acknowledge an employees success with a small plaque or something that would be displayed in the place of business for everyone to see.
  3. Get everyone working together. Provide monthly breakfasts or something that everyone shares together. Depending on the type of business, give awards for the numbers of calls received or the number of clients helped. Milestones can be set for each job and when these are met, make sure that employees are recognized.
  4. Celebrate and keep morale high. I don’t have an awards program set up at my store but I make it a point to celebrate each employee’s birthday with cake and attendance from almost everyone.
