How Well Do Postcards Work?
May 31, 2008

Postcards sent snail mail is one of the fastest, simplest, and cheapest ways to promote just about any business. You can get your message to a targeted group of prospects or to your existing customers for a cost of about 25 to 30 cents each including postage, but if the marketing campaign is not properly targeted it can be a waste of time and money. Here are some simple tips to make postcards work for you:

  1. Use a compelling headline that spells out the benefits you’re offering.
  2. Get right to the point. Have a simple and powerful offer. With just a glance, the recipient should be able tell if your offer is worth considering.
  3. Only promote one major offer per postcard mailing.
  4. Make sure your contact information really stands out. Use colors, fonts, and placement to make sure that this information is impossible to overlook.
  5. Offer something of value for free, for example, a free watch battery, gift set, etc. These types of offers get immediate attention. However, make sure that your giveaway is most valuable to those who are likely to be your customers.
