Don’t Hurry Asbestos Removal, Part One

I recently read an excerpt from the Kansas City Business Journal, from June 25, 2007.

another property owner\developer is hit with criminal fines related to asbestos

The federal court ruled that Hulsing Motels Missouri was to pay a $200,000 fine for removing asbestos material during renovations at the Clarion Hotel. A representative of Hulsing Hotels plead guilty to violating the Clear Air Act.

The representative said he was not trained to remove asbestos and no abatement contractor was hired for the project.

 

FOR ALL THOSE who don’t know…it is illegal to remove asbestos without hiring a trained professional to complete the work. Recently there have been a series of Owner and Contractors fined for removing asbestos without training.
