There is no down time in sales!
July 11, 2008
In the profession of sales there is no down time. Every waking minute of everyday a salesperson has to be ready, willing and able. The curtain is about to rise and the audience is thrilled with anticipation. The game is near the end and the outcome has yet to be determined, the entire team is counting on you to score the winning points. The entire family is gathered for the Holiday feast and you are in charge of making the gravy. All these situations hold a tremendous amount of pressure. Should sales be any different? Absolutely not! As a matter of fact there is probably more pressure in sales. The company that you work for and the family that you are supporting are all counting on you.
What a huge burden to carry. You have a tremendous responsibility. Not only has someone had to pay hard earned dollars to get the next customer to come in, the customer is counting on you as well as your own self respect and in many cases your financial status. You cannot afford to allow yourself to give a weak sales presentation. Whether it is personal problems, your work environment, your fellow salespeople, your supervisor or even the customer, you have to give your very best performance each and every time you make a presentation.
Look at a sales presentation as giving a performance in front of your closest friends and relatives. You certainly want to deliver your best effort. It is a show. The customer expects your best effort. Your company expects your best effort. Your family expects your very best effort and your own self-esteem and respect requires you to give your very best effort. Don’t cave into the pressure and the circumstances. You control your destiny and your success or failure. Give an Oscar winning performance with each and every customer and success will be yours.
