False Insurance Claims: Busted on Facebook

November 20, 2009
Hmm. Funny thing.  After just posting about the unscrupulous practices of the insurance industry in my peeve this week, a story comes out about a woman on the other side of the equation who appears to be equally as perfidious as she collects disability benefits because she it too depressed to work, but not too depressed to party, sun and post it all on Facebook.  Meanwhile, her insurance company saw the pictures online and stopped making payments.  She says that she is depressed and was instructed by her doctor to “get out” and have some fun.  Seems reasonable.  But what I find interesting is that people are debating whether one can be depressed and at the beach or a bar at the same time.  That’s a little bit ridiculous.  The point is that if her doctor says she should be out and about, around people and not sitting at home swimming in her misery, then she should be at work.  There.  Problem solved.  And lesson learned.  Unsavory characters walk both sides of the aisle whether it's big industry or random individuals.  Seems no matter where you go, there are folks who will try to get away with something and not care in the least if others get hurt in the process.  It's a real bummer.

One can be depressed and at the bar/beach at the same time. Infact there is a country devoted to that philosophy. A little green place, wrapped in the sea, where drink flows endlessly. Tide, tear and tap forming the sacred trinity. Ireland.

True. Maybe the bar wasn't such a good idea.

Most people do nto realize that once a comment is placed on the net it is there for good, in one way or another. Be a smart social blogger and social site user...teach your kids the same...some of the stuff out there I am quite sure will be regretted in the future by our young soon to be career workers.
