Healthy Organizations: Wellness in the WorkplaceJanuary 24, 2010 I have a vision. I’ve written several times about the role that dance has played in my life and how it has also shaped my understanding of business and the way people learn and work. At the same time, years training has netted me a strong mind/body connection and as a result, I am a big believer that healthy bodies, make healthy workers, make healthy organizations. So naturally, I was interested when I saw this article on Psychology Today that mentions the value of dancing, (and other performing arts) for people who are introverted. I happen to agree that learning to dance, sing and act can be expanding on many different levels. But why just for introverts? Learning to work outside our minds alone can be beneficial for everyone. Then I thought, wouldn’t it be great if companies had space allocated on every floor (just like kitchen pantries) where people could go to release tension, move, stretch and connect to their bodies? Some have gyms, which is good, but it would be even better if a physical component could be as integrated into our system as our desks and our phones are. We do have such a place at Krysalis. We don’t use it all the time, but it sure is nice to have when we need it. Oh, and I have a correction: In my last post I wrote about a situation where Facebook had disallowed an article that a friend of mine had attempted to post. I learned from a reader’s comment (thanks Betty) that it is allowed and has since been posted. Not sure where the error occurred, but it’s important to note that Facebook did not censor, How American Healthcare Killed My Father. Posted by Donna Flagg on January 24, 2010 | Comments (5)

Speaking of kitchen's, what's does Krysalis offer in the way of snacks to employees? Are they free? What is office protocol related to food cooking/reheating? Can one nuke last night's leftover flounder? It is a concern in office management. Not everyone has the same schnoz.

In response to: Healthy Organizations: Wellness in the Workplace Donna commented: Well that's weird. We did have flounder last night. And absolutely not - no reheating.
