Peeve of the Week: Business Babble

November 21, 2008

When I worked on Wall Street, we used to joke about all of the babble and acronyms flying around our office in emails and in meetings.  Buzzword Bingo was just starting to pick up steam and the classics like, "Thinking outside the box," "Getting to the next level," "Pushing the envelope," and "Let's take it offline," had set a generation of irritating business jargon in motion.  Now, it’s years later and when I look at how corporate speak has evolved, I still have to laugh at the way we make up words and phrases to say what we want to say.
