Raising Capital Without Losing Your Shirt

Dan Blank -- Expert Business Source, 3/11/2007 3:39:00 PM

BusinessWeek shares advice on securing capital for your business:

“Getting money isn't difficult, but getting the right money at the right time on the right terms is what matters.”

Among their tips:

  • Raise money before you need it. The financing process always takes longer than anticipated
  • Be wary of selling a percentage of your company; recovering it is very difficult and very expensive.
  • When choosing a financial partner, ensure it is someone who knows your industry, and whom you like and respect.
